Learning to Love Yourself and Understand Your Needs

I don’t know if you know that I am a musical junky.  I love South Pacific, Oklahoma, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and all the old classics, but I also love Hairspray, Hamilton, and Tuck Everlasting.

My latest listening craze is “The Greatest Showman.” The movie was awesome, and who doesn’t love Hugh Jackman, but I REALLY love all the music.  I started listening to the soundtrack on YouTube over and over until I had to buy it! One of my favorites is the song “This is Me.” The bearded woman sings this song as a kind of anthem to embracing her true self, beard and all. I related to this song so much.  I felt for many years like I was hiding myself behind perfectionism and playing small. Starting my business was literally like growing a beard! It felt uncomfortable and when I did my first Facebook video I felt awkward and judged. But not anymore! I am embracing my uniqueness bad hair days, failures, and all!

There are so many women I have worked with who have felt ugly, unnoticed, ashamed, judged or just not good enough. What if we could be vulnerable to let the world see our scars, our beards, our screw ups?  It could be scary, but it could also be empowering!
